12-02-2007 Dixie Chicks räumten 5 Grammy´s ab - Taking the long way "Best Country album"
Das Country Trio Dixie Chicks hat mit seinem Song "Not ready to make nice" und mit dem Album "Taking the long way" die Hauptpreise bei der 49. Grammy-Gala in Los Angeles gewonnen. Die drei Siegerinnen, die noch vor einigen Jahren gerade wegen Ihrer Anti-Bush-Haltung zum Teil auch Morddrohungen erhalten haben, werteten die höchste Auszeichnung der Nacht zum Montag auch als politische Botschaft der Juroren. Sie räumten insgesamt 5 Grammys ab. Record of the year: "Not ready to make nice" / Dixie Chicks, Album of the year: "Taking the long way" / Dixie Chicks, Song of the year: "Not ready to make nice" / Dixie Chicks, Best Country Performancy by Duo or Group with vocal: "Not ready to make nice"/Dixie Chicks, Best Country album: "Taking the long Way"/Dixie Chicks.
Die begehrteste Trophäe für das beste Rock-Album ging wie erwartet an die kalifornische Rockband Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Die Show began übrigens mit dem Auftritt einer der berühmtesten Rockbands der 80iger "The Police". Das Trio Stewart Copeland, Sting und Andy Summers fegten nun endgültig die Gerüchte beiseite und gaben ihre Reunion bekannt. Gemeinsam performten sie einen ihrer Klassiker "Roxanne" vor einem tosenden Publikum.
